Re: high pressure cooling system
When the cap is on the coolant reservoir and the engine is running does the pressure force fluid out of the cap on the reservoir????
Retired
I think the pressure that has the system is mainly gas but could also have the coolant pressure because when I turn off the car and open the gas cap which is practically ejected.JDS60R wrote:When the cap is on the coolant reservoir and the engine is running does the pressure force fluid out of the cap on the reservoir????
the thermostat is new is placed after the cylinder head repair going to change the hose.Colonialgirl wrote:Wonder if he changed the thermostat while doing the head gasket change and/or IF he's got one of the correct heat range in it. Worth a try I would think; AND YES do change the hose if it's bulging.

The cap on the expansion tank should release pressure around 15psi. If other parts the system are breaking they are\were weak or the cap is not doing its job. Replace the expansion tank cap and the bulging pipe.
Distilled water is a good idea also.

I am having the Same Problem. Please help. Do you know if the water pump is working and how do you know? I don't know what is wrong with mine either. I have had the system crack my radiator cap and now I just put a new thermostat in. I don't know what's wrong with this thing.... Same issue though with extreme pressure already replace the radiator. because it blew out.

My coolant resivoir starts out at max and after a bit of driving the low coolant /pull over warning comes on. I check and the coolant is right at min in resivoir.... if I release all the pressure carefully the coolant level rises back to max??? Is it high pressure forcing it down?Is it a thermostate problem, or a head gasket? I also had to replace a radiator two months ago This is a 2001 v70xc
Anybody?
Cylinder sleeve? Cracked block? HOPE NOT!
All was well before head gasket change. After that it blew thermostat casing and now radiator. Now I will buy new radiator and I'm afraid pressure will brake that one too.
Anybody, please?...
