my repair shop mentioned that they have alot of problems with 99's and up with clogged pcv's. they seem to think running synthetic helps this from occuring and is a reason they put synthetic in 99 and up maybe the same is true for earlier years.

For My '98 S70 T5, I paid only $110 for the pcv kit that fcpgroton sells. Evidently different than the 850's. I also (for $5.00) bought a intake manifold gasket, in case I can't get to the oil trap from below and have to take the manifold loose. I hope the parts come early next week so I can have this done before I leave for thanksgiving.

I took the manifold off today to replace the oil trap. Where can I look for the knock sensors?

There are 2...one above the oil trap and the other just to the right of it...they are parallel and equal distance from the rubber hose that runs into the engine from the oil trap. If you're replacing them, tighten both of the new ones to 14.75 ft. Lbs. Front one (one on the left) has to be tightened so the cable is at 3:00, while the back one (on right) has to be at 6:00. Hope this helps.

OK I'm ready to install the new oil trap and hoses and start putting everything back together this morning (notwithstanding my injector problem). How do those little hose clamps that Volvo uses work? Do you just squeeze them with a pair of pliers to tighten the up? I am accustomed to the screw on type of hose clamp but these are all ring type clamps with no screw for tightening.

Thanks!

I believe there are like reverse pliars that work with these...almost like needle nose for the smaller ones. I blieve your local car parts store (autozone, etc.) has these...will be worth it to have one or else you'll be messing them up and replacing them from what I understand.

Thanks....I just have to deal with my damaged injectors now. Couldn't find any used ones in Toronto today.

Might try a junk yard...may have the same injectors...just to get you through.
