Interesting Rattle.....

Howdy....

My 98 V70 T-5 has developed a very intresting rattle that I swear sounds like a heatsheild, but it only rattles at idle after the car has been run on the high way or is running warm. After idling for 2-3 min the rattle goes away. The last time I had an oppertunity to check it, the damn thing stops rattling seconds after getting it jacked up. grrrrr....
I was not able to find a heatsheild that would be suspect under the car, either.

Looking for ideas.......I think it might be the catalyst rattling inside the cat......turbo bearing?

Check your hood. As the cars get older the pads that the hood sits on shrink or something. Definitely a rattle...

Check the area around the latch pieces on hood to see if there are cracks. I had an elusive rattle and my hood wouldn't pop up to clear latches when I'd pull hood release.
