Common for a leaky oil cap that was replaced and then cleaned.

I hate to barge in on your post, but thank you so much for posting the picture. Can anyone tell me what the curved pipe is coming out of the top of the engine at the immediate left of the Oil Cap. That elbow pipe has disintigrated on my 05 XC90 2-5T. Also today it suddenly out of the blue starting a rough idle and loss of power. Runs better at higher RpMS but there is a bit of a shake in it. Check engine light blnks. No way to read a code. Again sorry for the hijack just a fellow volvo owner in great need. Taking it on a fairly long trip Thursday. Thanks

Part of the crankcase vent system. The cause of your poor idle. The other hoses of the PCV system are likely rotten also. The kit is about $100.

Thanks Ed, I am not sure I will have the time to do it myself any idea how much a dealer would charge for the kit and to put it in? Thanks, JKDIXIE
