V 70 D5422T '03 Hi, does anyone know weather this engine can be lifted "out of the top" without removing gearbox, subframe etc? thanks.

you will not be able to pull the subframe through the top. Otherwise I think that the engine and tranny can come out the top.

It is easier to leave the transmission connected to the engine when removing.You don't take out the subframe this way.
You can drop it down with the subframe attached but you will need to lift the front of the car up after. I myself lift the engine and transmission up as one unit.
