Welcome to MVS and congratulations on your find,

It is a PITA and it slows you down but document as much as you can with pictures and post back your progress since it helps all of us out.

Vin 58 - I'm jealous.

Did you get the original wheels?

she "my t5r" came with a set of 17" wheels and the rims are volvo stock almost a satin steel gray finish.
The prior owner even gave me a set of 15" steel rims with snow tires.
The only option the prior owner didn't get was the cd changer in the trunk.

Yup, thats the car I saw in the Getty station around that area. I think the engine is in relatively good shape, but PCV needs to be replaced ASAP (I'm not sure RMS is already gone or not since I couldn't get under the car). Also, ATF looks dark and has a little burn smell, you might want take a look at. All the info you need you can find in the repair data base and 850 part of this forum.
Good luck!

body work already done gave the girl a nice black opal metalic verus the flat black.
new tires done.
thats is the project for this weekend, pcv system,radiator and hoses, intercooler and hoses, etc.
only thing required was the pcv system balance is just because i could at the same time.
had a friend that is a volvo mechanic look at it and he said nice condition overall and could not believe the memories it gave him.

ok :? please make sure that you are sitting down. 8)
:twisted: promise not to be mad. :twisted:
deep breathe. :oops:
t5r was listed on ebay, no one else bidded against me.
$999.00 total purchase price with 17" inch volvo rims and 15" steel rims. :D
N.A.D.A. VALUE at $4450.00 with the mileage she has.
my expenses to date as follows:
$ 999.00 original price.
$ 69.93 nj taxes and title
$ 650.00 weird size volvo used that year on the 205/45/17; i tired 235/55/17 but too rubbing on the bumps and turns.
$1,200.00 body work, "front quarter panel", "lower air dam", "bondo" here and there nothing major just fixed a line along the passenger side, sanded down hood, roof, truck, wing and finished off with a nice paint job in a metallic black opal.
$ 488.00 all intercooler hoses, radiator hoses, radiator, clamps, windshield washer fluid reservior.
$ 150.00 single din radio with dvd player.
=========
$3,556.63

detailing on-going bit by bit, planning on steam cleaning the engine compartment next nice weekend we get.
i don't count my wrench time now because of the winter weather and my air tools buried in the shed way in the back so i have been using my hand tools and torch wrench. i could just imagine what this work would cost back in the day.

over all a nice find and very have with the car.
let me take that back "car" this is no "car".
after ripping the inside of the hood apart, between the hoses, radiator, ptc/pcv system.
no modifications expect for the cold air filter, strickly O.E.M. parts or replacement parts through fcpgroton.com.

two issues i have run into so far:
1.) silcone hoses have a major fit issue. all the hoses run about 1/8" smaller and are difficult as hell to put on. i gave up after the first one. Even though the silcone hoses are suppose to be better and tighter i reverted back to the O.E.M. verison. I figure if i have to take them off in the future for whatever reason it is easier to remove the O.E.M. ones. Also based on what i went through putting on the one Silcone hose on the intercooler return i had to cut it off with a razor to get it off it was on so tight.
The silcone ones look nice but they make maintenance a nightmare in my opinion.
2.) the pcv system kit from fcpgroton hoses run short for the t-5r, i had to lengthen the two hoses running to the intake pipe about three inches by using clamps and pieces from the old pipes.

two hours of driving it after the wrench time this weekend was done about ten to tweleve hours changing out everything listed in the $488.00.
driving down the side streets to route 80 in white meadow lake the beast was coming out; I could hear the release valve working when i got off the throttle.
what i could say is once i took it on route 80 :shock: i was amazed at the throttle response and the boost this t-5r planted my in the back of my drivers seat. getting on route 80 from the on-ramp, i saw the boost indicator almost pinned when i looked down was well above the speed limit. double :shock: . very very happy i was got off the gas and slowed down. :lol:
i guess the t5r liked what i did to her and she showed me a little of what she is capable of. :mrgreen: .
gonna clean her up and look over the drivetrain again.
i get a comfortable feeling that she is solid, forget route 80;

CAN YOU SAY ENGLISHTOWN and high 13s in the quarter if not faster once the performance modifications go in?
