I took off the "Draw Tite" hitch on my V70; drain plug woes

Post by matthew1 »

... and man that thing was heavy. Probably 60 pounds.

Oddly, of the four bolts, there were three sizes: 16, 17 and 18mm.

Tried twice to get the bevel gear (rear) plug out so I could put in JDS60R's home-made magnetic plug in. No dice. Sprayed Liquid Wrench on it four times. That thing is a) in there tight, and b) I can't get much torque on it.

It's in an awkward area and you need a 15mm socket, then a u-joint, then a 12" extension. Here's the DIY bevel gear tutorial.
