Where is the flame trap 96 850

Post by vtguy84 »

Soo....I'm trying to find the flame trap to clean it and I have no idea where it is. Does it also require me to unscrew something to get to it? If I could get a picture of where it is, that would be great!

I've also been reading that it's just a pain and doesn't need to be put back on....is this accurate?

Thanks!

There is a bayonet style connector on the intake snorkel that has a couple of lines from the PCV. The connector releases with about 1/8th of a turn and then pulls out. The flame trap is directly below that connector.

Sorry Ozark but I'm a bit of a novice here. I have no idea where to begin to look. Do I need to unscrew anything to get to it? Do I get to it from the top of the car or the bottom? My apologies for being so "air-headed" regarding this.

Yep, once you find it, clean out the pipe and toss that thing in the garbage!
