98 S70 RR door lock stuck.
98 S70 RR door lock stuck.
Sine I bought my car the right rear door has been unable to open. The door lock is down & ive tried to pull it up with quite a bit of force (about 40lbs of force) but it wont move. I dont want to pull to hard & bust something. Was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else & what they did to get the darn door open. Its kind of embarassing telling whoever gets in the back they have to slide through the driver side rear door. LOL. Also my power locks dont work on the left rear door, but im guessing that I just need to replace the lock motor in that door?

One way or the other you do.
This is not a normal door lock failure but obviously someting is broken inside so it has to come apart

Well I got the door open today. It looks like I might need a new doorlock/ latch mechanism sine it seems to be seized in the lock position. Can anybody tell me why this thing has 2 electrical plugs going into it? I know one is for the power lock(It has 12v when hitting the lock/unlock button.), but whats the other one for? I noticed it had no voltage as well. Any ideas??

Second plug being to sense when the door is open for dome/courtesy light control would be my guess. I noticed that my 850 doesn't have the door pin switches that are common on US domestic vehicles, so i'm guessing that it's controlled by the latch assembly.

The 70 series car has one fault on back doors.
Often if you shut the door while someone presses the locking mechanism it cause a failure. I have had this happen to 2 of the 70 series cars.
If you remove the lock mechanism on the outside of the door and follow the cable to the very end, you might notice that the plastic piece jams up. Its almost like it gets locked up with the corresponding piece it slides up against.
If you simply put this plastic piece back in place the door functions normally. It would be easier to explain on a pic but I do not have one handy. Take a shot of it and I might be able to help you out more.
