Adding front license plate frame to 850
I'm coming up empty searching all over MVS--just transferred the title back to my home state of MN after may years stationed in "single-plate" KYand have to put a plate on the front of my '97 850 T5 wagon for the first time in it's life. I got the new bracket from FCP Groton, but what is the correct way to mount it to the car? I see slight indentations in the plastic bumper cover, so behind that is the bumper threaded or do I need two nuts with bolts? What size do I need? Are locking washers recommended too? Thanks!

The correct way?
Go to a Volvo dealer and buy the correct bolts and sleeves.
It's like a drywall lag screw

Yeah, I'm talking about rural MN--at least 120 miles to an actual Volvo dealer!?! Any further suggestions to help me get legal more quickly?
IPD has the license plate frame and fasteners. All you need is to find a way to fit the bracket to the front. There is a certain way, the screws that hold the bracket thread into these plastic like things. Also, I sourced my bracket and hardware from the salvage yard for next to nothing. I live in Illinois and the front plate thing isn't really enforced, but I have been stopped in the past for not having it. You can always use zip ties to hold you over in the meantime.

He said he has the bracket.
If you want me to buy you the bolt and sleeve kit today and mail it, I can.
You would need to Pay Pal me the couple of bucks needed later today
Jim
(I buy wholesale so that will negate any mailing costs)

None of you are reading or listening
HE HAS A BRACKET
He needs the bolts and retainers which I can buy for a few pennies at wholesale if he wants me to.
That is very nice of you to offer but he only needs a way to attach it properly.
To the OP, many have just drilled holes and used large sheet metal screws to attach the bracket.
Not the neatest way but it works

excuse me JRL, I am reading and listening. I bought a 850, that had a personal tag on the front, "ROSIE" and I am not "ROSIE" so I took it all off. I have everything he needs, it's his free, and I will even let him have the "ROSIE" plate if he wants it. I might have been born at night...but it wasn't last night.

You can get rubber "well nuts" and the bolts to go with them at most hardware stores in the fastener aisle.
There's a brass threaded insert at the far end of the fastener that compress's the rubber.
Drill the holes, insert the well nuts, attach the bracket and snug'em down.
