CXV70 1998 ABS control module

Post by Miguel Silva »

Hi there,

I just bought a XCV70 last July, it has 102K miles. There were several lights on, so I took the car to the shop. They said that the problem was the ABS control module, and that I should go ahead and orther one right away (too dangerous to drive around with a failing module).

I was searching on internet and I found a fellow that does repair and upgrade these modules for just $130

Does anybody has any experience dealing with rebuilt ABS modules?

Please advise

Thanks

Miguel

Victor Rocha, probably. He's on this board every now and again:
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/p ... file&u=325

His website:
http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha

There's at least 5 people on this board that have sent their ABS units to him and have been well satisfied. I would not hesitate to send my ABS unit to Victor.

If you'd like to search for more ABS module info, you may use the search function near the top of the page.

I just got mine back from Victor and all of the ABS lights and traction control lights all went off once back in. This is one guy that holds true to his word and actually does a great job. I got my back within a few days after sending it Priority Mail and I sent him a postal money order because is puts those customers who pay this way first.\

Good Luck

I will give my vote to Victor Rocha too. He fixed my ABS module right up...all within 5 days from taking off the unit to getting it back in. Nice thing was that he also gave me instructions on how I can take the fuse out and it allowed me to drive the car while the ABS unit was out. You don't, however have Speedo or ABS brakes, nor Odometer, so figure out your RPMS to actual speed before driving so you don't speed...also be careful, esp. if the road is wet.

As an alternative (free market economy...), bba-reman.com also offers remanufactured modules. They accept major credit cards and paypal.

The cost is $200 + shipping, it comes with a 2 year warranty and your core needs to be sent back within 10 days. For people who don't like to drive without a module, who like to be able to use a debit card or a credit card, etc... there is hope.

I installed mine, no issues.

As a side note: some cards have been known to reset themselves right away, while others (like mine) need to be driven to 15-20 mph to reset themselves.

Gavin Curtis www.modulemaster.com did a great job for us. Repairs and upgrades the unit for $110 + $6 return shipping with quick turnaround.

By the way, this thing is easy to remove and install with Gavin's or Victor's website instructions.

I had these same kind of symptoms and received the same HUGE estimate from the dealer to replace my ABS controller.

More kudos to Victor and his repair of the ABS controller on my 2001 V70. Quick turn-around, excellent service, and great results.

Check out his website for details.
