2003 v70 brake light relay

Both brake lights don't work replaced bulbs and fuses. Next step is to replace the relay. Bought one today and got a diagram from dealer of location of relay.

Problem is the rem is not accessible after I take the cover off the cargo area. Do I have to take off the molding to get at it. The location of the relay from the diagram the parts guy gave me is RMI 05. Seems to be two different part numbers for that year mine is an earlier version. 30765030.

Anyone experienced in getting at the rem, would appreciate your help

Next step SHOULD be to investigate the brake switch. They fall out of adjustment or the contacts get corroded up over time.

does the third brake light work?
The relay is one of the half size relays and is the middle relay on right of REM. THe shunt for brake lamps in rear is the topmost on right.
If you remove the load floor panels and take out the bolt in the cargo cover receptacle just behind rear seat you can usually partly remove the panel and get access to the REM.
