2002 V70 boot won't open

Shut boot as normal, now cannot get it to open. Nothing jammed in there, all other locks working well. Have checked fuse and that is ok. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

try pushing the boot open handle back towards the car until you feel a mild 'click'. Then try opening as normal. Happens to me all the time. Frustrating

Thank you very much for this - I have just tried this, but didn't get the click sound and sadly the door still won't open. When operating the remote, I can't hear any mechanism in the tailgate. Any other ideas welcome, thanks.
