Best exhaust system for s70 t5..?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Best exhaust system for s70 t5..?

Post by koffinb »

Anyone know of any aftermarket exhaust systems for an s70 t5? I'm looking to purchase one pretty soon, i've seen a couple youtube clips of some really nice sounding ones. I'm trying to decide if i should go with an IPD full exhaust or not, im clueless when it comes to diameters and such..i'm basically looking for nice deep sound and a little less turbo lag. If anyone can assist me with this i'll gladly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Give OBX Racing a call. They make both a cat back and turbo back system that is very well made and very cost effective. They don't list much Volvo stuff on their website but they can make it for you.

All the aftermarket downpipes I've seen have been horribly overpriced. There is absolutely NO reason a 3" down pipe should cost $700. I had a full 3" turbo-back exhaust on my Talon that cost me less than that (made by a prominent San Diego DSM shop).

So my advice would be to check with local exhaust shops that do custom work, and see what you can find.

Alec, well put. I have a good post up from a guy who modded his 850 extensively, and was a mechanical engineer.

In Performance Exhausts Explained he writes about what to have done at your custom exhaust shop.
I recommend going to a shop that specializes in high performance exhaust work. They use mandrel bent tubing, are experienced with dealing with clearance issues with using larger then stock piping, as well as performance friendly such that when you decide to do other mods which might conflict with the ones you already have, they are usually happy to help out.
