V70XC Oil Filter Cartridges

Hi, After purchasing my '02 V70XC, I checked with a local Auto Zone for replacement oil filter cartidges. I was only able to find one in Purilator brand, for $11.95, and upon opening the carton, found it contained a Mann HU819X filter, made in Germany. I replaced it on the shelf, and on the internet, puchased a case of ten Mann HU819X filters for forty something dollars, from an import parts company in New England, the name of which eludes me. After my firat 5K oil change, I decided it would be prudent to obtain a spare plastic filter housing, in the event mine got damaged somehow during an oil change. I bought one at my dealer,( Part #1275808), which included the filter cartridge (Part#1275810). I noticed this cartridge was a bit different, in that it was a hair longer, had a flexible white membrane on the ends, with different size openings, which gripped the bottom of the housing as well as the engine block(The Mann only fits the engine block snugly, being loose about the projection in the housing bottom, and has tan fibre ends) and was made in Austria, not Germany(Had Volvo logo) I realized this seemed to be a better fit, and contacted the IPD web site to try and purchase some "Origina" Volvo filters. The photo on their site showed a cartridge with the white membrane ends, and the Volvo logo, but the prt number was#1275611, not #1275810. Since they looked like the ones I wanted, I ordered 5 pcs. for $29.75 plus shipping. The next day, I called my dealer, and inquired as to the difference between the part numbers, and was told #1275611 was replaced by #1275610. I called IPD and was told the ones they sold me were in fact Mann HU819X. I told him I already had a case of these, and was looking for the ones with the white flexible membrane ends, which were pictured on his web site. He apologized and offered to let me return them, saying he would remove the Volvo filter picture from their on- line catalog.
The reason for this posting, is to ask if anyone knows whether Volvo replaced the #1275811 Mann filters with the #1275810 Austrian filters because of a problem with the Manns? As I stated, the new ones are a bit longer, and fit around the stems better. I now have fifteen of the old ones, but will throw them out rather than chance damaging my engine(Only has 10K on it) Thanks for bearing with this overly long posting.
