Do you think the shop that did the work on the Timing Belt was negligent?

Serpetine Belt

Post by Devil Dog »

Statement: I had my Timing Belt and an oil leak fixed on a 2000 S80 appx 2 weeks ago. My brother said he thought he heard some noise coming from under the hood the day after the work was completed. I got busy and did't follow-up on it. Two (2) weeks later during Thanksgiving while traveling out of town/state I smelled smoke and pulled over. I saw the smoke coming from the belt and tugged on it and it came off. Of course at this time all part stores were closed due to the holiday. I left the car at a repair shop and was told later that the A/C Compressor, A/C Dryer/Acuator, Idler Pulley & Serpetine belt had to be replaced. My question is, could there be some correlation in the noise that my Brother heard due to the job that was done on the Timing Belt and oil leak earlier?? Thanks!!...
