steamed engine comparment this past weekend and noticed later one of the oil cooling hoses had a leak at the crimp section of the hose.
ordered both hoses and just got done replacing them.
add 200.76 for the hoses + about 2 hours of work changing them out.
add 49.00 from sears for a t-20 through t-50 socket set.
add 75.00 for the steam cleaner. i bought one of those handheld 900w units from k-mart. it works pretty good.
stage 0 getting closer.
would you recommend changing the exhaust. outside of the sound and turning heads. have you seen any benefit swapping out the exhaust? cat looks extremely long. are there any sizeable performance benefits?
i have a friend that runs a exhaust shop but this is the first turbo i owned so i do not know if there is a benefit to dollar spent on something like this on the t-5r. running a split after the cat to twin 3" to two separate mufflers out on both sides.?
i don't know if the performance benefit is there, your thoughts? maybe there is a less expensive solution with the exhaust like just swapping out the muffler to a borla, flowmaster, magna flow, or cherry bomb?
what do you think would be a good setup for the beast?

I've never done it so can't really give you an opinion on that. You might want post this question on VS in which I know a few guys did it.jkozlowski wrote:would you recommend changing the exhaust. outside of the sound and turning heads. have you seen any benefit swapping out the exhaust? cat looks extremely long. are there any sizeable performance benefits?

BTW, how old is the T-belt and its components (tensioner, roller, idler and water pump)? It is the most important issue of these engines.

thanks for the suggestion. didn't think of that of the time looked ok but i changed anywhere "just because" safer to than not to and have the car breakdown on the road and $4000 out for a new engine.
god only know what exactly the prior owner did.
t-belt , tensioner, idler, water pump all replaced after 8 hours of hand tools and cold weather.
i still miss my air tools and a warm garage.
the scary part naturally was starting the engine and hoping not to hear a m80 blowning...
lucky me no firecracker sound just a crank crank crank and vorrummm....
