If you find those awesome looking lights missing and replaced with the standard boring ones...

it wasn't me...

The car looks good, to be honest I would take the car to a garage where they can set the beam correctly, this will let you see how good the lights are with standard bulbs. Whilst its possible to fire the lights at a wall its far from ideal, and having looked at the picture you attached its a difficult call as the wall isn't high enough IMHO - Mike

HID won't work correctly in stock reflectors, you will just razzal dazzal oncoming drivers as half the ignorant SOB in LA don't seem to understand those HID kits are a pain in the eyes!

Get the V70 or after market reflectors or just get E code lamps.
Life would be enjoyable if it wasn't so painful to live.

I'll think about that. I did find it rather hard to get them just right. When I first installed them, they were aimed so high that there wasn't even any light on the road. I put them lower, but then could only see 15 feet in front of me.

No worries there... I'm not one of those idiots! If I do use the HIDs, I intend on doing them the right way! Scroll up just a bit...

This is the current beam pattern with standard 55w halogen bulbs. Does it look normal? Any tips/tricks to aim them perfectly or is it mostly trial & error?

Is it just me or is the right side sideways, at like a 45 degree angle? I don't think it's supposed to be like that...

I'm using E-Codes with halogen bulbs and it's a huge difference over the DOT ones. However that set cost like $200+ including labour... Could've bought a lot of halogen bulbs with $200.

As much as I'd like to install HIDs, well I'm too lazy to aim them and stuff. Plus we do mainly city driving anyways. We'll just pick up a set of OSRAM or something and call it a day...

My projectors do the same albeit on the other side (RH drive vs LH drive), the sharp beam cut off is all part of what you get with these type of lights, I have had mine set up correctly the light thats diving off at 45 degrees is for illuminating the kerb/ pavement nearest the car - Mike

Yeah, the slant is normal for the ABM projectors. I was also a little confused at first, but after driving a few times out in open country roads, I see the benefit. While I can see the road in front of me a lot better, having the upward angle on the right does a fantastic job at illuminating roads signs that were once almost impossible to see.

These look like the same ones I bought from IPD last month and with shipping they ran $407

Any comments/opinions on these:

1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-00-Vo ... ccessories

These look pretty good, and they come with the side lights too. Seller has good feedback with no apparent issues. These are the more expensive of the two, coming in right around $400.

2. http://cgi.ebay.com/Volvo-S70-C70-V70-P ... 588a8f7b3f

These ones look about the same, maybe not quite as nice (based on the pictures). They also come with the side lights and are $370.

If these look good, please let me know. The first one I posted seems to be a good deal and the parts look like good quality. Opinions?
