vibraton uphill and between 50-70mph

Post by brandona1977 »

I have a vibration on the wheel and engine while I am accelerating between 50 and 70. I just balanced my tires and that helped. So that still isnt the cure. I heard it in the drivetrain if the shaking is under load. Could this be a misfire? I was told that this could also be a CV joint, Im not a mechanic so I would appreciate all of the help I could get. Thanks

If you slip the car into neutral at this speed does the vibration disappear, or is it still there on a trailing throttle?

Engine mounts could be the culprits, but if it is restricted to a certain road speed range, it is more likely a wheel bearing or CV shaft.

Can you have your main nuts on the front hub tightened or checked for torque?

With the car jacked can you rock the front wheels? They should be rock solid with almost no wobbling.

There is one on each wheel in the centre but you will require a breaker bar or a pole inserted over the spanner handle. Have the car on the ground to tighten them.
