Hi, I have a 2000 S80 2.9L that has a no oil pressure, stop asap message, I bought the car a few days ago at an auction and yes I was expecting to do repair work on it, I just need to pin point the right repair to do.
Symptoms;
1. No oil pressure message
2. foamy/milky oil on dipstick and cap after running car for a little bit but oil is clean after it has cooled down. not loosing coolant as of now and no leaks.
3. smoke coming out of the dip stick but NOT smoking out of exhaust.
when I first got the car it had low coolant and low oil. also looks like it did not get good maintenance as it had lots of gunk so I did a motor flush using a gunk product from the parts store then changed filter and oil. just need to know what needs to be fixed as I have seen various suggestions about head gasket, gunk in oil pan, oil pump and o-rings, faulty oil cooler attached to oil pan.
Also getting a p1633 and shows ABS and STC messages, figured I will replace the ABS module on these messages.
Thanks.
2000 S80 2.9L no oil pressure warning message
If it were me I would seriously consider dropping the oil pan first of all to take a visual inspection. When you dropped the oil what did it look like? Was it milky?
Trying to figure out if you have coolant entering the oil system. Could explain why you have smoke coming out of the dipstick, no smoke coming out of the exhaust simply means that coolant is not entering the combustion chamber.
If you have had coolant mixing with the oil over a period of time it is possible that the pickup is partially blocked (or completely) which could cause an oil pressure problem. (hence dropping the pan)
Of course it could be a sender issue but given the other symptoms it sounds more serious than that. The smoke coming out of the dipstick is pointing me towards head gasket leak between coolant and oil galleries. (white smoke????) To help diagnose oil or coolant.
Good luck!!!

That engine has had issues with o rings in the pan for the oil pickup and oil pump discharge.
Crankcase vent box and lines stopped up is likely problem for venting through disptick and milky/foamy oil that seems to clear after engine is off for a time.
Dropping pan off will tell you lots.

Thanks, I will be dropping the oil pan over the weekend when I receive the o-ring kit, I do have bubbles in the oil and the milky/foamy may have been a residue of the flush or part of the o-ring issue since it doesnt seem to occur anymore. I did have to change the oil & filter again & it had lots of dirt. Will update after oil pan job.
Ok, I dropped the oil pan yesterday and I'm happy to report I have no more warning messages, definitely an o-ring problem as well as blockage. I was missing an o-ring on the pickup tube, had couple of broken ones and one that was half. I also had some blockage on a channel on the top part of the pan such that I had to use a screwdriver to pierce thru the gunk, and when I did, I got about a half quart of caramel like oil dripping unexpectedly. All in all the job was worth it, I do have to prepare anyone doing this to be ready to fiddle with the pan for some time, I unbolted everything with ease but between the power steering lines, fuel lines and limited space, getting the pan to come off the car required a series of jacking up and jacking down the engine to get clearance. I also got some milky oil after finishing but this went away after running the car long enough, figured it was because I had to use a water hose to get enough pressure to unblock a channel on the oil pan.

I just joined the forum, and having a hard time figuring out how to post. I'm having similar issue with my 2000 s80 t6. Foamy on oil cap, coolant message, low oil pressure message. Coolant is leaking into front drivers side floor boards, but car is showing no symptoms of loss of oil pressure though the message is there. No smoke at all, but cannot drive the car with traction control turned on because I get no acceleration past 25mph. After turning it off, it runs and goes fine..jiggaz wrote:Hi, I have a 2000 S80 2.9L that has a no oil pressure, stop asap message, I bought the car a few days ago at an auction and yes I was expecting to do repair work on it, I just need to pin point the right repair to do.
