Hi,
I've recently bought a Volvo V60, and I'm really happy with it. But (there's always a 'but') I'm having an intermittent behavior on the Radio: Sometimes, after being stopped for some hours (usually it happens early in the morning, before going to work, or in the end of the day, before going home), when I start the car, the radio doesn't start. The screen, after the Volvo logo appears, just goes blank, with nothing on it, except the A/C information. In the panel, I press all the buttons (including the on/off button for some time) and nothing works, except the A/C buttons. After some minutes (can be 5, can be 10, or even 20) it just starts by itself, and works fine without any problem from that moment on. Then, it can stay working fine for a day or 2, but without any working, it just happens again.
I already went to my Volvo Dealer, but they don't know what the problem is. They've asked be to go back there as soon as it happens, so they can monitor it happening, but since the behavior is not consistent, nor lasts forever, I'm afraid it will last for some time without being caught.
Does anyone have any ideas about this?
Thanks in advance,
Bruno
V60 Radio Blank problem
Thanks for your reply.
I did go to the dealer last week. They didn't find anything wrong with any of the car systems. It was connected to the computer for several hours, and nothing. And I understand their side.. They cannot replace all the car parts without understand where the problem might be. That's why they've asked me to go there with the problem happening, which is quite difficult because the problem is intermittent. Only by luck I will be able to go there with it happening...

The V60 is not a model offered in North America but the S60 "sister" to the V60 is sold here. There were very early S60's with AUD issues and software and /or replacement was addressed as a solution. Your dealer should do some research with their support to see if they have seen the problem. A communication may have been issued since you were at dealer.
Bruno,
if you bought the car brand new, then leave it at the dealer for a week or so and have the master tech drive it home, until he notices the intermittent problem. Get a loaner in the meantime.
Keep all the documentation and keep going back to the dealer until they fix it. More than 4-5 visits to the dealer for the same problem qualifies as a lemon, and they should give you a brand new car if they can not fix it,or at least replace the radio.
Keep pesting the dealer until they fix it right.

He's not in the US, hence no lemon laws.
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP
