When buying from FCP Groton

Post by EstVolvo »

When buying from FCP Groton allow some time - like three weeks.
After adding other European and Japanese brands and 15% sales and $0 shipping - they got too busy.
They don't have time to read your questions and give correct answers - at least in Live Chat - just some quick copy and paste that doesn't apply to your car.
One person deals with you during the Live Chat, somebody else who has no idea and don't give a s..t deals with your order.
After a week long wait you get something you didn't want, then comes weekend and then you have to spend days explaining and getting blamed, and then comes third week of waiting and if you are lucky you will get what you wanted.
You will end up taking a bus for awhile and paying more than agreed in the first place.
I have had good, very good and so-so experience too with FCP, but it was before.

Sorry to hear that. I just called them this morning to verify some radiator stuff with them and I got a really helpful and knowledgeable guy (always have!). I placed my order online after talking with him and it's currently marked as "being shipped." I was really happy, but I hope there aren't any delays for me!

FCP website is weird, it is hard to navigate.
BTW, I have been a loyal FCP customer until last year.

The following are better websites:
rmeuropean
autohausaz
eeuroparts
2004 V70 2.5T 100K+
2005 XC90 2.5T 110K+

EstVolvo,

I am so sorry that you had this bad of an experience with us. We really go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect for all of our customers. Do you mind telling me who you spoke with? I would like to bring this to our CEO's attention so that he can work with you personally with this matter.

I've not had to wait three weeks with any order from them. Have ordered 7-8 times from them. A week at most. Always packed well and double checked on the order sheet.

I just looked at the FCP website. It says Tax Refund sale, 15% off and free shipping on
orders of $99+, expires 3/15. Is that an error, does it expire 4/15, or did they forget to
remove the ad?

I use AZ for my benz parts, but for Volvo they just don't seem to have the prices or options I'd like to see. I've never bought from either of the other places because they're prices haven't been any lower.

At a comparable price, I'd MUCH rather give my dollars to the places staffed with knowledgeable Volvo people AND the places that support our older Volvos like my '75 164E. FCP and IPD both fit that bill and I'd guess they each gotten about half of my purchases. I know I can call up either of these places and get someone on the phone who knows something about our cars.

One other good one - I've only ever ordered directly online and have no idea if there's even anyone to talk to by phone - is http://www.europartsdirect.com
They have a good selection of parts for both my new and old Volvo's, as well as for my wife's E320 wagon. They're usually pretty good pricewise, too.

bw77 - I ordered from FCP today and the Tax Refund coupon worked. I'm sure they meant 4/15!

I placed my order this morning at just before noon and I just received my "full ship confirmation" e-mail now, 4.5hrs later. I'm happy, thanks FCP!

Bummer about that experience, sounds irritating. I'll add along with the others though that I've only had the best experience with FCP, and as long as I own a car they supply parts for, they'll have my business. Maybe you just caught a perfect storm of everybody having a bad day.
