Key will not turn on engine

The key will not turn all the way to start the engine. It seems locked. I have tried the spare key, turning the steering wheel, pressure on the brakes etc but the key still will not turn all the way. I had to get the car towed to the dealership.

Might be the PNP switch. It checks the position of the Shift lever to ensure you're in Park. Usually a quick 20 or 30 top-to-bottom movements of it will temp. clean the contacts. Oh well, try it next time.

Let us know what the dealer says before you OK work.

I had the same problem yesterday morning - still waiting for a tow since no service departments in my area are open on Saturday. Verrrrrry frustrated with this car -- my third volvo and possibly my last. I feel like i should have kept my 2001 xc instead of turning it back after the lease.
