2001 C70 Automatic Transmission Problem

Ok So I bought a 2001 C70 convert, with 103K on it. The owner told me it had transmission problems. The dealer told him it needs to be replaced. When you drive the car for the first 5 or 6 min it drives fine then it starts shifting all over the place. Going 30 MPH and it will go into low then back to drive. It just keeps shifting all over. I was going to send it in to have the tranny fluid flushed and the new software flashed into it. If that does not fix it what other transmissions will be a bolt in replacement? Thanks Tom

You need a transmission... and you need a new (rebuilt) by Volvo orhave this one rebuilt.
We have been finding that at higher miles the (transmission) cases are worn internally and rebilding your existing tranny could be a wasteof time but any GOOD reputable shop should tell you this once it's apart.
As you should know these 5 speeds are not cheap to buy and not cheap to bebuild (although rebuilding should save you from $1000 to $1500 over a straight install of a new one from Volvo.

Any Idea what other year transmissions fit the car. If I can buy a low mile 03-04 tranny I will. I just cant seem to find what fits what years.
