synthetic oil???

Post by koffinb »

Is it too late to put synthetic oil in my t5 v70? I have 150k i just bought it and i dont know if the prev. owner used synthetic, should i just stick with conventional?

And would an exhaust system and downpipe shorten the life of the turbo?? Thanks in advance

Synthetic is better for the turbo engines. You may not get the same benefit if synthetic was not used since new but you will benefit from it .

A proper down pipe and exhaust system will not shorten the life of the turbo if the engine's program is designed for it or compensates for it. if the computer is not set for it and the car runs lean then damage will occur throughout the motor and turbo.
If it runs rich power will decrease and engine deposits will increase.

In what way would i benefit from switching now?

And so basically, I would have to reprogram the ECU correct?
