Re: Trans Fluid
When going from one gear into any other gear it is fine, no problem. My car is an early 2002 model so which version of software was originally used or when the transition came with the SN function deleted from the program, I do not know. After the updated software it did seam to shift earlier with less hesitation, I thought it was an improvement. I am supposed to drop the car off at the shop tomorrow, I am supplying the fluid (3309) just so there is no confusion or substitution.

There is a fluid labelled Mobil 3309 which is a non-synth and will work fine for you as it is the OEM fill.beefmaster wrote:Ok, so I go to the local A.Z. store and they have a Mobil Synth. ATF. It does not say '3309' on the front of the bottle however it does say... Volvo 97340, JWS 3309 and Toyota T-III and T IV in the label description on the back. Is this what I need to be looking for or is it more specific to the 3309 designation?
There is also Mobil Synthetic ATF which says 3309 compatible on it, which is the synthetic version of the above fluid, and will probably work fine too.
However, as JRL says, if the trans is already worn out due to many miles of driving on a worn valve body, then all the fluid changes in the world aren't going to help it.

valve body and current fluid have about 7~8k miles on them. I was curious if swapping the current Wolfs Head 3309 compatible fluid for the actual Mobil 3309 or Toyota's T-IV might improve my shifting problems. I will be taking the car to the local shop Wednesday evening for a proper diagnosis.

Your Wolf's Head CRAP is going to (if it hasn't already) destroy your tranmission

I did not have any say so, but I directed the mechanic that worked on the car prior to me buying it, that he needs to use a 3309 type fluid not compatible fluid in these Volvo transmissions from now on. We, the mechanic and I, will be flushing the tranny this weekend. Thanks guys for all input.
