Hello
Couple months ago I bought a black 850. Looks like car had few scratches on the door, hood and fender.
PO used spray paint to cover it. That looks ugly . Does anybody knows how to take spray paint off and not to ruin a clear coat.
Thanks

850s don't have clear coat unless it's been repainted---
Thanks JRL, do you knw how to remove sprey paint from original 850 paint.
There is four places on the car repainted with spray can and really doesnt look good.
Thank you
You "might" be able to remove it with lacquer thinner. Find an inconspicuous spot else where on the car and check that the Original factory coating isn't softened or removed. If you can and do use the lacquer thinner, be very gentle with the wiping and use a very soft cloth. The Factory Black is probably a baked-on enamel and should be MUCH harder and more resistant to the lacquer thinner.
Use to be a Paint Chemist for a major corporation and a quality control manager for a well known anti-rust paint company; plus did touch-up work and scratch repairs on used cars for dealerships.
Good luck.

My 97 black 850 and current white 850 are clear coated. I had the black one from new. The white one came to me via a colleague at Volvo (corp) and it was clear coated too.
Thanks kcodyjr and SimLyons. I also have two 850, 94 black and 96 silver both are clear coated.
Just want to fix some paint imperfections on 94 black one.
Looking for soft paint thinner to take off spray paint and still keep my clear coat intact.
My clear coat still looking good after 16 years.
thanks.
I just used a gallon of lacquer thinner to remove spray paint from my 98xc70 trim that the previous owner applied. they used flat black spray paint on the trim and bumpers, looked terrible especially as it chipped
i used a scrub brush and a littler thinner at a time and soft towels. car almost looks like new. when using the thinner on the actual metal body apply and scrub with a soft rag to avoid scratches.
