460 GLT Key fob not working

I am wondering if anyone can help me with a tiny problem, I have bought a 460 GLT 2 Litre 1994 it came with a key fob but when i tried it nothing so i thought maybe the battaries are dead so i got some new ones but no look i have searched throught the internet and forums and they told me to turn the ignition to the II five times on the fith time to leave it on and then press the lock and unlock on the key fob and it should work i have tried this but nothing i am wondering do i need a new key fob or is it the car itself its a handy thing to have is the key fob so if anyone can help would be a life saver

1. where can i find this unit for the remote key fob

2. Will i need a lead or not

No problem. We've all been there, done that and got the T-shirt and, in most cases, the video as well.

1. It is in the engine compartment in front of the strut tower and is shown in the attached. When you see it it should have the cover on. Unclip the cover to expose the test sockets. This unit is also used to check for any fault codes that may be stored when you are diagnosing problems with the engine. instructions for this function are pinned at the top of the forum.

2. The lead is attached to the unit.

Hi thanks for getting back to me

I am still having problems coding the remote
I am following the steps turning the engine to the on position just before you start it putting the lead into the test socket 1 i press the button 4 times and it lights up every time i press the button but i am not sure if its meant to light up as well after i have pressed the button 4 times it lights up every time i press the button but never after it i am not sure if its meant to or not. I am not sure where to go from here so if anyone can help it will be fantastic

When you press the button initially you should do so for about one second each time. After pressing it four times the LED should light and stay lit. Now press the button three times, again for about one second each time. Do the same for the rest of the sequence. If you are programming more than one remote increase the final four presses to five for the second remote, to six for the third etc.
