New pump in. No start. Cranked on it for 20secs then stopped. Tech at the dealer suggested unplugging the battery and let the car sit for an hr or so then replug and restart. So far - no go.

Just replaced the spark plugs. No go.

No engine codes either (yet).

Im stuck. Any ideas?

In a bit deeper. Hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail and with the key in 2nd position - no pressure. Cranking - no pressure. With a helper, put key in 2nd position and pressed my ear against the floor where the pump is - no 'whirring' sounds. Hmm.

Used a multimeter to test each of the fuses under the hood - all good. Test resistance on the relays - all good.

Give the relay a good whack, maybe try swapping in another if you have one handy.

If it isn't the pump, relay, or fuse, all that remains is ECU and wiring.

$365 from the dealer - $122 from a few dismantlers.

What kills me is there can't be more than $1 worth of electronics.

Be sure you keep that in mind when buying those Apple and other products we all so dearly love.
You need to re-locate the pump module per a service bulletin. There is an adapter harness involved.
I'd be sure the new one is VERY clean or you could be buying another one on the way down the tubes.

*giggle* Yea, I aint relocating the pump control module - that is the next guys problem, not mine. As soon as this thing fixed the car is going to be traded in. Stupid economy has killed our income and the $760/mo (36mo left) isn't sustainable.

How does it get that hot in the first place? Is it strapped to the back of the catalytic converter? Is this something I should think about doing on my 2004 T5 RWD XC90?
