2002 s80 mass air flow sensor

Hi to all,
I had a recall on the fuel pump for my 2002 S80 which only has 47,000 miles on it. I took it to the local Volvo dealer and they replaced it free of charge. I picked up the car and it wasn't running quite as good as it was before they fixed it. Every time I started it, it got harder to start. After my 4th stop, it wouldn't start at all. I called the dealer,they sent a tow truck at their cost, loaned me a Taurus and called me the next morning telling me my mass air flow sensor is bad. They can replace it for $465.00 parts and labor. I also have to pay for the tow. They said it wasn't related to the fuel pump replacement. This is all in one day by the way. Does any one know how many hrs. it takes to replace this. The part runs $150.00 to $256.00. It doesn't look that complicated to me. Does any one think they are trying to recoupe some labor for the free fuel pump? Should this sensor be gone in 47,000 miles?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The book time for replacing the MAF is 0.1 hrs. Possibly someone with little experience could stretch this to 0.2 hrs. I'll leave you to work out the hourly rate they are charging.

It´s only 4 bolts to work with, super easy to do it! 15 min. is enough!
