Subject: strong dissatisfaction about Volvo Assistance and Diplomat sales services
Dear Sir or Madam
Please be notified that on 16 March, I found myself in awkward situation trying to call up Volvo Assistance following battery discharge on Nice airport parking. First, the toll free number listed in the booklet was not valid anymore and, second, once a lot of time, money and effort has been spent getting in touch with Volvo Assistance, nobody cared giving us practical information on how to get help and support arguing that my car plate did not match their area of responsibility.
Being a diplomat for 13 years and buying cars accordingly, I cannot accept such behavior. It does not matter that I have a Belgian CD plate or an Italian one since, we where in France where - if I follow Volvo’s logic - no one would have helped us anyhow. What matters is the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Luckily for Volvo, my 4th XC70 has already been ordered a few months ago and delivered end March with some hick-up because of transit issues on the Belgian side. Otherwise, I would have seriously considered to put Volvo in competition either with BMW or Audi. Please forward to whomever concerned that people like me do not buy Volvo cars for their engines or wheels but for the assurance of being safe and covered. Service in the above-mentioned case proved to be dreadful: after a long flight and with family exhausted, we had no other choice than pre-paying a hefty amount for car removal even though the breakdown truck simply reloaded the battery. Hoping that my letter of complain will draw sufficient attention, feel free to correct the overall perception I have. [...]
Yours faithfully,
