I bought my volvo S40 1.6 petrol 2004 on May 2006 was very good car with small problems . my car was on gwaranty so was fixed.
in june 2008 i had a problem with engine - Piston on first cylinder was craced. I bought engine from second hand and.....
Suprise - engine work but was so slow and not strong enough . engine light was on so I gone to volvo garage to sort this problem enginer sad they can not sort this problem because they haven't got plate number from car which is the engine.
Computer show cam shaft position sensor is doesn't work . I bought new and is nothing change. Now My car is work good but when drive u to the hill and keep this same level on accelerator it's ok but if I need push more accelerator engine lose power and I have to reduce gears to get the hill.

An engine is no more than an efficient pump. Air in-air out. If valves, rings and gaskets are good, lots of air in-lots of air out.
Where people go wrong with engine swaps is they don't swap EVERYTHING over from the old engine and wonder why it doesn't work. Or they re-assemble something poorly and then blame the engine number or some silly rubbish they expect the average person to believe.
If original manifold, loom & sensors were used, the newer motor should work fine, given that the newer motor has good compression and no head gasket/manifold leaks. If the engineer disposed of the old engine and threw away your good wiring loom & sensors beacause he was too near sighted to keep them for you he will try and blame something that will cost you extra money, which is a shame.
Try and find out if any of your old sensors were used or if there are gasket leaks that can affect its performance.
You may need to consult an independant garage who didn't do the work to find this out.
Try this approach and let us know what you find out.

Everything what you said is right but- cam shaft position sensor is the problem.
when I check on a computer what is wrong computer show me problem is with cam shaft position sensor- I ordered i Volvo garage new sensor and I changed, checked on computer and computer show me this same problem.I reset computer when engine was working and the engine start work wery good problem was back when I switch off engine and switch on again computer show problem again. I haven't got idea what is wrong I spoke with my friend who is mechanic long time and he doesn't know where is problem. Could you tell me :
1. Engine was conected to the body by metal tape if you take off this tape can be problem for engine or computer?
2. Why when I reset computer on a working engine the problem is sorted but when I switch off and switch on again the problem is back?
