The hose end ( flame trap housing I think) that goes into the air intake hose doesnt fit right and i seem to have lots of extra parts. I cant make it fit together and at a loss. The angle is all wrong.
OY! I could use some help. Hope someone is up late
Am having problems installing FCP PCV KIT on 850
just as a truly quick reply - I had an extra part or two (clamps, cause I used some worm-drive ones). One was the short "adapter" type hose with the brass metal part..didn't need it - just re-used the part that was already on the breather box.

I've heard of that main hose assembly (flame trap to breather box) coming with the elbow pieces assembled to the wrong end - just swap them. This is one of the complaints I've heard about the FCP PCV kit.

Perhaps a bit more detail now that I have had the benefit of a long hot shower to ease the pain of the last 10 hours and a moment to reflect on the prior comments.
The long hose assembly between the oil trap and the breather tube has the male end of the flame trap housing already assembled on it. It is at the wrong angle to properly fit into the female end of the flame trap housing which is molded into the breather hose. The outer covering of the assembly have the blue Volvo label on it...about the only thing that did.
I am confused in that I have an extra male fitting just like the one on the end og the hose assembly as well as a femal end which looks like it should plug into the breather hose if there wasnt already a female end already integral to the breather tube.
Are there brether tubes that have modular plug in flame trap assemblies? Why is mine different? At the moment i am rather diappointed with FCp. If this is a parts issue and not me..I mean.. I am also having problems with the two trunk lid struts I bought...they both just popped off and they are PITA to reinstall. Here again i am assuming they were installed correctly and not faulty aftermarket struts. Just the same I want to blame someone other than me... waaaah!

Trunk struts - did the ends have a little pin that wrapped around the post? I was banging mine on when I realized that the pin is first removed, the end goes on the ball, then the pin goes back in and holds the whole thing in place.

This one I can comment on: I had the exact same issue with a flame trap hose I ordered from FCP. Note I also have a 96 non-turbo, my be relevant.Chriss wrote: The long hose assembly between the oil trap and the breather tube has the male end of the flame trap housing already assembled on it. hoses lined up, old and new:

hoses attached, old and new:

In short, there is no way to make the new hose play nice with the existing intake. I was not in the mood to buy a new intake hose so I sent the trap hose back, just cleaned out the old trap hose. That was 5 years ago, that flame trap hose is still on the car and still intact and working. I have since replaced the small vacuum line to the intake elbow, with silicone tubing.
I suggest you call up FCP and ask if there are different angles available for that part. But I don't think so.
