Yea those e-file charges are NUTS.

Two and a half percent? I was going to put $7k on my card -- I don't pay a dime of taxes all year until April 15 -- but when I saw that I had it drawn from my checking account (and lowered the amount I paid to $4k because I don't have that much ching in my bank account or available in my reserve account).

Two and a half percent of $7k is $175. No way I'm paying that on a credit card, even though I would get 7k miles on my Alask Air mileage plan.

2.5%? Is that what the late fee percentage is? This is the first time I have not been able to pay all of my taxes at one time and on top of that, be a day late. I hope the fees are not to much.

2.5% is the fee card transaction companies charge to run the transaction, nothing to do with the government or even Turbotax.

US tax code is a fiasco.

It really is, and it changes so much every year that you really have no idea half the time what has changed that will help you and/or hurt you. I am just glad they are over for now. Will be curious to see how much they will hit me for not paying the whole amount I owe in full.
