Hey everyone. So I put the XeModex ETM on couple days before Christmas and as I was finishing my kid calls, coming home from first semester at college, and I told him we'd hang out tonight. I hurriedly "finished up." You know where this is going. We've heard it a thousand times, "HASTE MAKES WASTE." How important is a 30 cent hose clamp?
Merry Christmas. I blew my engine. The water temp gauge never went past middle. ???. So I bought a complete engine/trans combo on ebay, and am putting trans back on ebay. My question is this: What vehicles will the 50-42LE tranny work in? Yeah, I know how to find specs, but I'm talking MOD. Many of us know that lots of parts work perfectly despite technical specs. For example, technically, my BMW bike "needed" a $300 Bosch fuel pump, but the $50 Ford unit has worked very nicely for 50k. Specifically, a guy with a 2002 V70 T5 front WD geartronic (?) equipped vehicle wants to know if my 50-42LE trans will work for him. And assuming that he passes, with what other vehicles with this tran work? Your experiences and input are appreciated.

Your 98 AWD gearbox will work in 98-2000 AWD models except the 2000 V70R with 5 speed auto.
For 98 models the two one bolt retained speed sensors will have to be swapped from the removed 98 box for the later box to work. Those two speed sensors are digital waveform producing type on 99-> and analog sine waveform producing on earlier.
BTW, when you lose all the water quickly the sensor initially only has steam at 212 passing by it. 212F is not in the hot range on gauge. When the conducted heat raises sensor temp after the steam is gone it is too late. ALL cars have this issue, not just Volvos, Why didn't the engine-saving low coolant light come on on your car?
