1997 V90 Replace Turn Light [Basic Repair]

I'm looking to do some very basic repairs for my fiancee's car and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice.
I have no background with cars but know my way around electronics so I feel that I should be fine with basic screws and plugs.

The first repair I'm wanting to do is replacing the driver side turn light unit.

The first link is to a depo brand for around $36 that says it fits 1998 V90, the second says that it will fit a 1997 and is APA brand.

I suppose my first question is am I even looking in the right place, are either of these brands a good idea.
The second is that I imagine the cheaper of the two would fit in the 1997 as I believe the bodies are similar, but wasn't sure if anyone would know 100%.

Please let me know if you have any advice for me, hopefully this repair goes well then I can go on with a few other minor repairs. Fuel door hinge replacement and tailgate strut replacement.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Either of those would fit the '98 model. The only change to that light unit was made in 1995 and they stayed the same to '98 when the S/V90 was discontinued.

I have no personal experience with either make but they are made to fit the car so should be OK. The price is good, especially for the Depo.

Thanks for the information, I think I'll order one and try it out.

Part of the Depo price is that it doesn't include bulbs.
But the bulbs of the old unit are fine.
The problem is that the plastic cover for the light fell off one day.

If you had to buy a bulb it would not cost anywhere near the difference in price.

Working from memory, which isn't always too bright

,the turn light fitting is held in by a plastic clip. They are prone to break.

I ordered a "no name" turn signal like the one you need from eBay. It arrived quickly and fit like a glove.

Thanks for the help!

Went relatively smoothly.
The turn light replacement was easy, the bulb was blown though.
Quick run to the parts store and it was only $5 for a new bulb.
(Had to run twice since I forgot my wallet on the first trip

)

Made a quick video of the process so anyone else needing a quick howto might find it.
