I have an 86 740 Turbo sedan. Fun to drive, poor mileage (~15-16 city) though even after O2 sensor, high flow intake, and new catalytic converter. Ever since I got the car however, i notice the turbo needle goes only up to about 3 o'clock position (well inside the yellow). I just though that is as far as it goes. Am I right? Or should it go all the way through the yellow band of the guage?
also, how do you increase the boost a little? i know 850 owners shorten some rod somewhere and get some increase in boost, does it work on the 740 too?
thanks!!!
how far does the turbo guage needle go?

As far as the needle goes...I dont think it goes any further, a friend of mine has one and no matter how hard he pushes it doesnt go byond that 3 o'clock position. maybe both are broken haha. About boost, I dont know much more than what you already know about that rod somewhere, if you want more juice getting aftermarket turbos would help, but thats not cheep.

install a manual boost controller like a halhman between the wastegate and the intake manifold. Install a real boost gauge and put the car on a wideband o2 sensor and make sure you aren't running to lean under high boost and you'll be fine.
