exhaust flexible pipe diameter

Post by misha »

My exhaust flexible pipe have a leak and it needs to be replaced.I don't even consider to buy a complete exhaust manifold where an aftermarket one costs about 250eur/almost 300$$$. I wonder how much the oem one costs?

So...i will go with aftermarket flexi pipe(Walker,Bossal...)and i need to know what size is diameter of the exhaust pipe where it needs to be welded. What is diameter of flexi pipe i need?

My local exhaust shop have Walker flexi pipe with diameter of 45-55mm,but i measured 67mm. :?

Can somebody give me a confirmation about this?Is diameter 55mm or 67mm?

Misha.

I thought factory was 2.5 inches which converts to 63 mm.

Is it possible that one of the ends have larger diameter?

I meant...the one closer to cat is 63mm and the one closer to exhaust manifold is 67mm?

Exhaust systems are specified in nominal diameter and they don't account for the larger female joints so the answer is yes, they can be different diameters on either end.

A guy from volvospeed said that he measured his old/torn flexible pipe and it was 2.25"ID which converts into 57mm.

C'mon guys,i need to order the right part.

Can anybody confirm which diameter i need...57mm,63mm or 67mm?Also the length of the part is welcome.

Thanks for the replies.... 8)

Just in case somebody needs to replace their own exhaust flexible pipe, measurements are like this:
-almost 60mm in diameter towards the cat
-67mm in diameter towards the exhaust manifold

So,my mechanic ordered a new Bosal flexible pipe with 64mm in diameter and 250mm of length and as soon as it arrives it will be installed/welded.

The reason why i didn't ordered the one with 67mm x 200mm(which would be "exact match") is that it isn't available neither from Bosal and neither from Walker.

Walker's biggest flexi pipe was 55mm x 250 and Bosal's was 64mm x 250mm.

Ok guys...today i went to pick up my exhaust flexi pipe and and guess what,my (exhaust shop)mechanic ordered wrong part

He ordered Bosal's 67mm x 250mm flexi pipe,but in the real life i need 67mm x 100mm(65mm x 100mm is acceptable)

The update is this:
I replaced wrong one with new one(65mm x 100mm) and ordered new exhaust manifold gasket because exhaust manifold needs to go out if you want it to be properly welded.

Sorry for wrong info in previous post,it wasn't my fault. 8)

Is there a DIY somewhere or just unbolt and re-install it?

The flex pipe is one with the manifold, you can't just remove it. So replacement would include a welding step, I am guessing with the exhaust manifold removed from the car.
