I have been contacting a few volvo specialists for pricing in town as my 04 S80 2.9 has 91k on it. I hear its best to at least check the belt for signs of early aging now (remove cover and look for cracks?) and then have it, along with the tension and idler pulley replaced at 105k. The thing is, some shop are advising extras like water pump and one is saying the cam seals should be replaced at the same time. Any consensus on this? Do water pumps or cam seals leak on these cars?
BTW just to do the belt and pulleys is around $600 here. Full service 105k is $1100 - ouch!

All I have is two cents, but you can have it.
Do you have basic tools and some mechanical aptitude? It's totally doable at home and none of it (at least on the 5 cylinder) is particularly difficult - just tight working spaces.
As for doing it at a shop - cam seals are dirt cheap and the water pump is right there, too. ~$100 should get you those parts. Very little extra labor involved and I can't imagine they can justify an extra $500 to do them at the same time! If you can get them to come down, I'd say go ahead and do them.
