battery cable connections

Post by ClaireElliott »

Where does the cable with an electronic end plug into? I removed battery and the cable came out from somewhere. Car would not start, only clicks. Thought first it is starter or solenoid, but then might just be the new battery has a dead cell since one has been leaking. Did it come off of fusebox, starter or something else?

what voltage do you have on new battery? there is a fan wire and another pos. cable going back to the fuse panel thru left fender/body. Otherwise. the pos. goes to starter where it hooks with cable from alternator.

i dont know, but the battery is 4 months old. it had a cell that was not sealed all the way; but i figured it would not matter. the cd player started shorting out about a month ago as well. car has been running really bad. it will not turn over now, and dash lights come on intermittently if i turn the steering wheel at the same time. almost like a short somewhere.

Sounds like you're not getting a good connection and that the cables/cable ends may be your problem. Check them by doing a voltage drop test. http://www.aa1car.com/library/voltage_drop_testing.htm

Your description of this connector would be greatly enhanced with a picture. Please post.
From what you've told us so far, it sounds like you may have some charging system problems.
Cabling and connections between the alternator, starter and battery may be the issue.
There is also a cable from the battery to the fuse box that may need help.
