Anyone have their mood affected by season?
I have the Spring/Summer one. Hard to get things done, not excited to call up friends, etc. Winter is no problem.

That's a little backwards, don'tcha think? Silly Colorado people
I love spring/summer/fall. October is my favorite month out of the entire year, because it's when all the trees turn and the days start to get cool. Then, I get lazy and don't do much in the winter. I like snow, but not that much that I want it to snow every week. Blacksburg is windy and COLD in the winter, and people are usually busy with other things school or work-related.
Now that it's spring again, and the daylight doesn't end at freaking 4:30, I've been running every day after work, hiking on the weekends, playing tennis/basketball with friends, and going for drives just for the heck of it. "Summer" begins here soon - this is exam week at VT, and I am DONE TA'ing/taking classes for the school year!
I hate the heat on hot summer days (I hate humidity even more) - NC gets into the 100's a few times in July/August; VA usually stays in the 80's-90's, but the days are long and summer nights are absolutely beautiful here and go on forever. And everyone wants to go places and do things! I've already got trips planned for Busch Gardens, the Outer Banks, VA Beach, and (maybe?) Nashville or Florida in there somewhere. I'm excited about this summer and the exiting times that may arise with it!
Plus, it means girls don't wear much in the way of clothes

You're not the only one, Matt. I get really 'bluesy' around this time of year...introspective, melancholy, etc. I call it my "thinking season." I've always been an odd duck in this regard, since the few friends of mine who suffer from this tend to get it with the relatively shorter days of Winter (then again, I'm one of those people that actually likes rainy days). I just try to remind myself that it's a season in my life, and by about early July it's gone for another year.
Justin--if you make it down to Florida, let me know, maybe a few of us local Volvo nuts can have a meetup. And enjoy that vacation--I don't get to enjoy my Summers off, I pay the bills by running my own consulting company, so time off is a luxury I rarely get.

Hey, you live in Orlando! I'll definitely let you know.
Oh, I still have to work my regular job all summer - it just means I have nights free now
I don't think I could stand living in Florida during the summer. Last time I was down was back in 2005, in March, in a car without A/C. It was still way humid, bleh.
Matt, come on down and go to the beach/see this side of the country. You're welcome at my place

Spring and Fall are definitely the favorites, just right to roll back all the glass and step on it.
Summer gets me lethargic for obvious reasons, and Winter gets me irritated, both with the cold, and my charming fellow Massachusetts motorists who seem to forget their earliest driving lessons every year.
I'm thinking there's an excuse for a road trip in here somewhere, seeing how I've got a grandmother near Daytona... but not too soon, I've still got to figure out my turbo control issues.

Personally, I'm a big fan of winter. While I curse at the howling cold winds, I love snow and all the sorts of weather that most people consider "bad". I guess it's partly because I don't like the heat. The end of Summer/early Fall is miserable for me usually. I do enjoy the long days, but the heat is just killer.

It is backwards. According to Wikipedia, it's called reverse seasonal affective disorder. And its characteristics are very different than the more common seasonal affective disorder. I fit the symptoms listed on Wikipedia almost to a "t", the biggest one being (besides "down" and not being able to get much done) decreased appetite. Traditional seasonal affective disorder is, on this point, the opposite. Those people tend to crave carbohydrates.jblackburn wrote:That's a little backwards, don'tcha think? Good to hear you're doing ok with it, have gotten in a predicable routine, etc., VCA. At least it sounds like you're coping ok.VCA wrote:You're not the only one, Matt. Absolutely!!! I have the same issue but in the fall/winter. I hate the cold so much that I just don't want to leave my house.matthew1 wrote:I have the Spring/Summer one. Hard to get things done, not excited to call up friends, etc. Winter is no problem.
