manual swap in 2001 v70 xc?

Post by fredtw0 »

I'm one of those people with 2001 transmission problems. The transmission place hasn't been successful in fixing it (I had it rebuilt on warranty twice after the 1st rebuild failed), and I was wondering what it would take to convert to a manual transmission?

I know of a potential donor car, so what would I need?

You will also need a custom ECU re-flash or the engine won't go over 4000 RPM
(About $1500 or so)

Well that's good to know. Would that be something IPD would take care of?

Also, I meant that I know of the car and I don't actually own it. So what I'm really asking is what are all the parts I would need to purchase off the car?
  • * Transmission
    * Shifter/linkage
    * clutch pedal
    * master cylinder
    * slave cylinder
    * hydraulic clutch line
Do I need the brake pedal? or does the auto petal clear the clutch pedal?

you'll also need the ECM and TCM from the donor car.

Is that really all I would need? are there all the same connectors in the wiring harnesses? Did I read somewhere that I need to short somehting? Will it bolt up to the AWD system just fine?

IPD does not provide this service anymore as far as I know
You need a Woth tune or get a hold of Marco (TME) in Europe and he will do it too
(I have his email)
Cost is about $1500 or so
If you do this I have a couple of contacts you can call that have done this (manual swaps on 99 and later cars)
