98 V70, standard shift. Every winter, on al my cars, i disconnect the wire that energizes the compressor. It keeps it from running while defrost is on. All has been good. Except for this first year with my Volvo. Spring arrives, and i re-plug the wire in, and no AC!!
Took it to my mechanic, who said the freon pressure was fine. He noticed thru investigating via Mitchell repair program online, that the ac light flashes like 20 times when ya power up the car. He says that it is being controlled by the computer, and needs to go to a Volvo dealer to straighten it out. Dammit! Is there anyway of repairing on my own? Clearing the computer? He jumped something, and the compressor kicked on, blew ice cold. But he advised NOT to leave it jumped out that way. Help? what kind of cost will the dealer charge to hook into the 'puter and repair this?

Probably over $80 or so. They charged me $99 to read my transmission codes. Jerks.
Ask him what switch he jumped and let us know - that is a good clue right there.
