hey, i'm gonna buy a 1985 turbo 245 wagon that is down the street...it's silver with aluminum 4-spoke wheels, dark blue leather interior, manual transmission, no sunroof...
it has a fuel line leak and needs an exhaust manifold gasket...
i got a couple questions...
does this sound like the DL model? it didnt say on the car..
was wondering if all 1985 turbo 245 wagons are intercooled? this car appeared to have a large diameter tube on the passenger side going towards the radiator
are the turbo's liquid or oil cooled?
thanks in advance.

'85 wagon 245 turbo Topic is solved
If it is a Turbo, it will not be a DL, The DL was the base version, the Turbo had many options, although it is unusual for it not to have a sunroof. In 85 the intercooler was not standard, but an upgrade from the dealer was available and many owners had it installed on their cars. Also in 85 the water cooled turbo was not stock, but an upgrade kit was available often a water cooled turbo would replace nthe older units.
A water cooled turbo and an intercooler serve different functions. A water cooled turbo uses the engines cooling system to control and disapate heat from the bearing area of the turbo, this increases the life of the turbo. An intercooler is used to cool the pressurized air from the turbo prior to it entering the engine, this provides a denser air charge and reduces the chances of detonation.
