Gear shift knob replacement

Post by gal5392 »

The rubber peeled off of my gear shifter and needs replaced. Is there a special tool or does it screw off somehow? :?

Thanks for the reference. Its actually an automatic transmission with a center console, would this still work?

My '93 850 Automatic Transmission shift knob's vinyl/plastic surface--damaged when I purchased the car--finally went to pieces. I simply can't find anything on the internet regarding shift knobs for 850s, nothing. Well, I found this, didn't I... but there's no info here either.

I'd want to know where I could obtain a replacement shifter, if any aftermarket shift knobs could work, and finally how to remove/replace the knob. Well, if wishes were fishes (I'd probably have my own seafood company!).
