2001 s80 T6 A/C refrigerant pressures

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2001 s80 T6 A/C refrigerant pressures

Post by marimol »

Hello everyone,

I have a 2001 Volvo s80 T6 with 108,931 miles. I noticed that the A/C compressor is cycling quite frequently, so I think I need to recharge the system. I have recharged my '98 Jeep grand cherokee before, but not this Volvo. I read that I need to recharge the system on my Volvo on the High side (which I will not attempt). I also read that people have successfully recharged it from the low side(I looked at this thread) I have an r134a manifold gauge set and I know that the low side pressure changes with the ambient temperature, but I was wondering what the high pressure should be, or a safe range where it should be. To be completely honest, I have not used the high pressure port before, so I do not know what to look for in terms of pressure.

I appreciate any help that you can provide.

Thank You

Just charge it from the low side like any other, using the same pressure relative to ambient scale. This process has worked fine for me on both our V70 and S80.

Excellent, I'll recharge it using only the low side, thank you.

Just out of curiosity, when would you need to monitor the pressure on the high side?

Thank you.
