Radio . . What am I missing?

Worth a try : https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/volvo-parts-online/, try one of the Volvo guys listed here , give them the serial number off the radio and I am sure they will be willing to help out. Tell them you are a member of MVS and what happened with the last effort at another dealer.

Was able to call the Volvo in owings mill, MD. Talked to the service guy gave him the serial on the radio, 3 minutes later got the code, punched it in. YES.

For future reference, the code is never printed on the label but about 50% of the time the previous owner wrote it on the top or the side of the radio with a sharpie. In at least one case we have seen the previous owner wrote it very small, with an ink pen, and then used white out to cover it.

No dealer should ever charge any money at all to provide the code but some dealers require proof of ownership of the car to provide the service - I suppose that is fair but having my wife call with her "sweet young thing" voice has never failed to just get the code over the phone from the parts counter.

can anyone help me find information on why the indash cd player is not working? It's the premium stereo in the 97 850 glt. I just changed out all the speakers but while the radio works fine the CD just shows 00:00 and then ejects.

Welcome to MVS sdiamond,

There is a know problem with a microswitch in the CD portion of the radios. Search CD in the repair database and a link should pop up for you that gives an inexpensive repair.
