can I add a 97 turbo and exhaust manifold and a intercooler to a N/a 93 glt and run low boost without changing the computer or the air flow setup? I know some install work has to be done but is there a oil and a coolant supply line to tap into?
my car is mint and the mods for handling and brakes have been done.
the exhaust will need updating also. all I want is added power, not to add 100 hp.
please help.

850 GLT add a turbo?

If you just want some added power buy a chip...it's alot cheaper and easier. You're better off just buying a T5 if you want a turbo.

Who makes a chip for a '93 N/A 850 GLT....I've searched a little and only find them for turbo cars...any help would be great.

I went through all of this already with my slow 1995 850 GLT. I tried locally, nationally, and everyone told me the same thing... it would be way too expensive to put a turbo in the car. it can be done, but unless you are planning on doing it yourself, dont waste your time (especially if the car is an automatic). I recommend a nice T5 or R model. or why not a nice 740 turbo...plenty to do to those.

I don't know for sure, but if you're interested in pioneering, go for it. As long as you monitor AFRs (with a wideband, not a narrowband), and possibly EGT's as well, it'll be safe. I'm not sure if the NA blocks have a convienient oil supply, and I'll expect you'll have to drill and tap your own drain.ccsct203 wrote:can I add a 97 turbo and exhaust manifold and a intercooler to a N/a 93 glt and run low boost without changing the computer or the air flow setup? I would advise some form of AIC as well.
I'll take a look at differences in the engines in VADIS and get back to you if I find anything interesting.
