We are new to the forum as well and would appreciate any help we can get.
We have just put an engine in our 2000 Volvo S80 T6 which has 87000 miles on it. We also went ahead and put a new timing belt, alternator, alternator belt on it. Car runs great. But, appears to be leaking oil at or around transfer case. What could be the problem? It's an oil leak that is leaking on the transmission pan,but I can't see where the oil is coming from.,my question is ;could this be an oil leak from the rear main seal,or is it more likely to be a leak from a return line,or turbo. It is losing alot of oil,300 miles and 5 quarts of oil.any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Phill

there is no transfer case. Describe where it is leaking.
The transmission has and end over behind (not next to engine but off back end of crankshaft) that has a gasket that can leak.

That much oil is most likely getting out of seals at the PCV breather box, underneath the inlet manifold.

S80 T6 through 2002 is a known leaker at drain tubes from turbos. It will not be easy to see as transmission is right up against those.
The seals were improved and changed colors either late in 2002 production or by start of 2003.

how is the easiest way to see if the leak is at the turbo drain tubes. Thanks for the info and the leak does seem to be coming from up high only when the car is under power. when not running doesn't appear to be leaking.
Anybody in the Walhalla, Seneca, SC area willing to put the orings in the turbo drain tube? We're having NO LUCK getting anyone to work on it. The guy that put the engine in bypassed putting the orings in and just sealed it so the oil is leaking heavily. If not, is there anyone out there willing to talk a woman thru doing the job. Can't deal with it anymore and I'm one of those women that do what they gotta do. I was a single mom for many years so I am able to do some mechanical work. maybe slow but can follow directions.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
