Summer plans?

Post by jblackburn »

Summer's the best time for going on road trips and visiting friends you haven't seen in a long while!

I made an impromptu trip to Fairfax last weekend to visit my best friend and her family that I haven't seen in almost an entire year. They are almost like a second family to me - I got a bonfire/cookout in my honor and got to ride in a real military Humvee and a tour of Quantico from her dad. Great weekend

This weekend, I'm headed to the Outer Banks for long weekend the second time in my whole life (last was way the heck back in 98 when I was still in middle school!)

After that, it's home and then to Busch Gardens, and possibly other smaller trips along the way.

So...where are you going this summer?! :)

Weeeeell I gotta go back to school in a couple weeks here to knock a few more credits out. Then I go to Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio to get my Class 1 Flight Physical out of the way. After that, there is the possibility of a trip to Alaska. Hopefully driving, but if not I'll fly there. I really want to drive it though!

Other than that, I'm sure I'll find some random stuff to work on the car. Video games, hanging with friends, and TONS of mountain biking!

jblackburn: Sounds like you had an awesome weekend. As for right now, I have no road trips planned. I tend to just take one out of no-where though so we will see what happens. I need to find some good driving roads in the central jersey area.

We'll probably go to Iowa, where my wife's from, once or twice. I need to get under both our Volvos and do maintenance. Timing belt on the V70. Lotsa little things on both.

Take my kid to my dad's neighborhood pool. Keep playing inline hockey on Monday nights.

Launch some new MVS features. Redesign of a) forum, b) home page, c) Repair DB pages. Add Maintenance Log (Justin ;-)). By the time that happens I'll surely have lost the element of surprise/benefit. But oh well. You can only do what you can do.

If I can find a damn network suited to automotive publishers to get me more revenue I can outsource some of this and it'll get done 4x faster. You have no idea how many publisher networks don't want to even call me back. It's really frustrating.

Come at it from the other angle -- you need to buy advertising -- you'll have a thousand men in polyester suits at your doorstep waiting on you hand and foot, offering you caviar and champagne.

GASP! I'll believe you when I see it :D

We used to play street hockey growing up! It was so much fun, even though we all ended up with skinned arms and knees.

Just heard from my sister that she got an internship in Florida and will be moving there shortly. Sounds like an excuse to go visit and go to Orlando!

Hmm. Not quite non-auto-related, but I was looking at doing this:

Real advanced vehicle control training for $85, AND there's BMW owners to snicker at? Sign me up!

The only worry is how badly will I beat up my 97 GLT doing it. It's only once, but...

Matt, looking forward to seeing all the changes that we will see this summer. I understand that funds do help.

Awesome pictures. I really like the one with all of you jumping in the air. Talk about good timing.
